About the Papua New Guinea Branch

The purpose of Pioneer Bible Translators is to disciple the nations by:

  • Providing Scripture in the language of the people
  • Developing mother-tongue literacy programs
  • Establishing and strengthening congregations
  • Training leadership among nationals for partnership in reaching our goals

To accomplish this purpose, Pioneer Bible Translators serves as a missionary ministry of Christ’s church. Our desire is to truly “Bring God’s Word to Life” among people groups worldwide who do not yet have it in their own language.

Pioneer Bible Translators is an evangelical, non-denominational mission committed to practicing and promoting Biblical Christianity and the unity of all Christians. Our members and support come primarily, but not exclusively, from the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. We seek to cooperate with all believers who share our goals while maintaining our identity with integrity.

Pioneer Bible Translators is a faith mission. Each PBT missionary team is responsible for developing the prayer and financial partnerships needed for fulfilling the ministries in which they serve.

Bible Translation: Progress and Needs Around the World

Over 65% of the world’s 6,800+ language groups still do not have even a portion of God’s Word in their own language. Isolated by linguistic, cultural, political, even geographic barriers that cut them off from the Good News of Jesus Christ, hundreds of millions of people still wait.

Current Personnel Needs in Papua New Guinea

Bringing the life-transforming Word of God to the peoples of Papua New Guinea requires Papua New Guineans and expatriate missionaries working side by side, each person contributing his or her knowledge and experience.
