About PBT-PNG

To the Least and the Last

016Pioneer Bible Translators yearns to see every man, woman, and child with access to God’s Word in their heart language. Thousands of people are still without access to His Word in the areas of Papua New Guinea where we are working.

In the eyes of the world, people groups in this region are insignificant. They aren’t worth the cost. They are remote, deep in the treacherous jungle and small in number. They are poor. They are the least. Their lives are steeped in animistic traditions where the devil has been allowed to rule with little challenge for hundreds of years. Pushing through these physical and spiritual barriers is a formidable task. They will be among the last to be reached.

Pioneer Bible Translators in PNG believes that regardless of population size and ease of accessibility, God has promised to see people from every tribe and tongue bow to Him. He will see His kingdom advance into the small groups found hidden in these thick jungles. Though the world has ignored them, He remembers. Just as He has His eye on the sparrow, so it is on these, the least and the last.

Who is Pioneer Bible Translators??

“Pioneer Bible Translators bridges the gap between the church and the Bibleless peoples around the world. Our team is composed of Bible translators, literacy evangelists, church planters and a variety of support personnel working to see transformed lives through God’s Word in every language.” (PioneerBible.org)

Our mission

Pioneer Bible Translators exists to disciple the Bibleless, mobilizing God’s people to provide enduring access to God’s Word.

Our vision

Transformed lives through God’s Word in every language

Our primary strategy

Prayer is our strategy.

The needs we have right here!!

There are more than 800 languages in Papua New Guinea. Over 180 of those languages are found in Madang and East Sepik Provinces where Pioneer Bible Translators is actively working in 17 programs. We estimate that over 80 of these language communities still need access to God’s Word in their heart language.

These are the least and the last we want to serve through the work of Bible Translation, Literacy, and Scripture Impact. Behind those vital ministries stands a team of people made up of support personnel. Bringing the life-transforming Word of God to the peoples of Papua New Guinea requires Papua New Guineans and expatriate missionaries to work side by side, each person contributing his or her knowledge and experience. In addition to the Papua New Guineans we are asking God to add to our team, we are praying for these new missionaries to come join us as we go to the least and the last:

10 Bible Translation Specialists to facilitate Bible translation for people groups who are still waiting.

6 Scripture Use Specialists to promote and facilitate the use of translated Scripture by individual believers and in local churches.

5 Literacy Specialists to enable mother-tongue literacy initiatives for adults and children.

1 Business Manager to oversee the day-to-day work in our finance office.

1 Group Directed Projects Coordinator to encourage and assist mother-tongue Bible translators.

5 Administrators to help oversee the various aspects of our growing team.

2 Technical Service Specialists to help maintain the physical facilities and equipment that are vital to our ministries.
